Field Technical Representative (full-time)
Territory: Western US
Travel: Up to 80%

Waypoint Outdoor is building a high-performance field team to represent leading brands across cycling and snow. This is a rare opportunity to travel the Western U.S. in a Sprinter-style vehicle, working directly with top specialty retailers to deliver hands-on training, in-store clinics, and impactful brand activations. You'll bring cutting-edge helmet technology to life through real consumer engagement, events, and education.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Field Technical Representative to support a portfolio of premium performance brands, with Mips helmet technology as the primary focus, alongside Craft, 7mesh, Db Journey, and Sunski.
This is a highly autonomous, road-based role for a professional who thrives in retail environments, enjoys technical education, and is passionate about cycling and snow sports. The Field Technical Representative will work directly with specialty retailers, retail staff, consumers, and local communities to bring brand stories to life through education, demonstrations, merchandising, and events. This role will require up to 80% travel throughout California and the Western US, including overnight and weekend travel during peak seasons, and some overnight stays in a Sprinter-style camper.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Education & Technical Training (Primary Focus)
- Deliver engaging, in-store clinics centered on Mips rotational impact protection technology, helmet education across bicycle and snow categories, and product differentiation and brand storytelling
- Educate retail staff to confidently explain helmet safety and technology to consumers
- Co-host clinics with helmet manufacturing partners when applicable
Sales-Floor & Consumer Engagement
- Work alongside retail staff during peak traffic periods
- Engage consumers at the point of purchase and answer technical questions
- Demonstrate helmet technology using approved demo tools
- Support informed purchase decisions through education and trust-building
Merchandising & POS Execution
- Audit retail environments for brand presentation and compliance
- Install, maintain, and refresh POS materials
- Identify merchandising opportunities to improve storytelling and visibility
- Ensure premium, consistent brand presentation across all assigned accounts
Community & Event Activation
- Support and attend retail-hosted events and clinics, group rides, ski days, demo days, and grassroots cycling and snow events
- Participate authentically in local communities and brand-aligned activities
- Assist with event setup, breakdown, and on-site engagement
Content Capture & Brand Storytelling
- Capture basic photo and video content from retail visits and events
- Document clinics, activations, and consumer interactions
- Share approved content with Waypoint and brand partners for marketing use
Reporting & Administration
- Complete accurate weekly reports covering stores visited, clinics delivered, staff trained, consumer interactions, POS installations, and key insights and feedback
- Track schedules, mileage, and expenses accurately
- Communicate proactively with the Program Manager and Account Manager
Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience in outdoor retail, field marketing or brand representation, or specialty sales or product education
- Strong knowledge and passion for cycling (road, gravel, MTB) and snow sports (skiing, snowboarding)
- Comfortable presenting to groups and delivering clinics
- Ability to operate a branded Sprinter-style vehicle as a mobile showroom and demo platform
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organized, self-directed, and dependable
- Clean driving record and comfort operating larger vehicles
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., move, and install POS materials
- Ability to travel and be on the road for long stretches of time
- Comfortable using mobile tools for reporting and communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with helmet brands or safety equipment
- Technical or training-focused background
- Familiarity with specialty retail environments
- Basic photo/video capture skills

This is a salaried staff position at Waypoint Outdoor. The pay range for this position is $55,000 – $66,000 per year.
